Map mods and curses also increase risks to them. The gem gives +30% elemental, so even with Commander of Darkness your Carnage Chieftain will be under cap for cold and lightning without some investment into resists. A bigger weakness for Raise Spectres is that their resists are all over the place, they didn't benefit from the 40% elemental and 20% chaos resistances across the board that was given to all minions/totems in 2.5, so Carnage Chieftain has 75% fire, 0% cold, 0% lightning, 0% chaos. The problem with Meat Shield is they taunt, which you do not want. I'm open to be proved wrong if I somehow messed up my testing. TL DR: You cant sustain Chieftain charges with a base clarity (even lvl 20), you need either Blood Magic or clarity with lots of aura effect. Someone better at math can probably figure the precise amount. Would estimate the skill to be around ~600-650 mana cost and they have a base mana regen of ~20-22. With no Clarity/Blood magic, they cast it once every 30sec. To mimic Blood Magic's behavior of using it on cooldown (every 6 second), I only achieved this with lvl 14 + 300% aura effect (75mana regen).

Test were done in Control Block Act4 with monsters on the other side of a closed door.ġ: Blood Magic No surprise here, 100% uptime, we can notice that the skill has a 6second cooldown (added in Patch 3.6). Some people say you can sustain Carnage/Host chieftain charges with just clarity, some say you absolutely need Blood Magic, some say since 2 years ago when a CD was added, blood magic is useless and had proofs but never posted them.ĭecided to do my own testing to figure it out.
